Recently i found an old laptop. of course instead of just installing vista on it like i should've given that was the os it came with i spent weeks trying to install semi-modern linux distros on it after repeatedly failing to install anything new with it
the problem with it is ram. i will upgrade it as soon as i find another stick but it doesnt seem worth buying more for such a low end machine.
now it might sound like a bad idea and you would be correct, it is!!!!
the repositories are so old they dont have neofetch, open ssh, htop or btop , i had to find there githubs and install them manualy and i spent hours troubleshooting ssh before realising ubuntu 14.04 comes with ssh. i followed the wrong samba tutorial and i originally tried to use it as an irc server but that didnt work. i then decidedd to use the free tier of oracle cloud infrastructure to run it. my sign up broke, i messaged support and havent yet had time to properly set it up.
